Vekselberg says asks US’ OFAC to lift sanctions

MOSCOW, Jun 4 (PRIME) -- Viktor Vekselberg, the key owner of Russian holding Renova, has sent a request to repeal personal U.S. sanctions against him to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), he told reporters on Tuesday.

“We have sent a request to the OFAC, they are considering it,” Vekselberg said, adding that it is unclear when the authority decides on the matter.

Vekselberg and Renova were blacklisted by the U.S. in April 2018 forbidding U.S. citizens and business entities to sign deals with them. Vekselberg told Financial Times in an interview published on Monday that the sanctions had brought him to a life crisis as he can no longer visit his daughter and grandson in New York.
